For companies that have implemented A-610 as a standard for approval, it is important to also implement the requirements for materials, processes and equipment as listed in the J-STD-001 standard. Doing so will enable conformity between final product requirements and manufacturing processes utilized for production.
The course will go through the requirements for manufacturing in accordance with J-STD-001.
In 2019 IPC introduced a new type of certification – Certified Standards Expert (CSE). A holder of a CSE certificate is a person who has the required knowledge and skills to be able to act as an expert in one or more IPC-standards. The person
· Is an expert in a specific standard (or more)
· Is utilizing one or more standards to accommodate company specific requirements
· Is a link between the company and the industry
· Keeps the company updated with respects to the newest revisions of standards used, and best industry practices
· Gives feedback to workgroups and committees working with the development and updating of IPC standards
· Communicates with designers and process engineers
· Settles organizational conflicts and offers expert advice based on IPC standards

· Requirements for materials
· Requirements for mounting wires on terminals
· Requirements for mounting and soldering hole mount components
· Requirements for mounting and soldering Surface Mount Devices (SMD)
· General solder joint requirements (including lead free joints)
· Requirements for machine soldering process control (reflow and wave soldering)
· Requirements for inspection
· Requirements for coating (materials and process)
· Requirements for rework and repair
· Quality and process management
When the theoretical test as an IPC Expert has been passed, a certificate valid for two years will be issued. Please note that the test for this certification is time limited!
