IPC/WHMA-A-620 has been developed to support the part of the electronicsindustry that uses crimped and soldered wire assemblies as well as securing ofwire harnesses.

It is important to ensure the required quality level. This can be achieved byensuring that the operators know and comply with the requirements of IPC/WHMA-A-620.

In 2019 IPCintroduced a new type of certification – Certified Standards Expert (CSE). Aholder of a CSE certificate is a person who has the required knowledge andskills to be able to act as an expert in one or more IPC-standards. The person

·       Is an expert in a specific standard (or more)

·       Is utilizing one or more standards to accommodatecompany specific requirements

·       Is a link between the company and the industry

·       Keeps the company updated with respects to the newestversions of standards used, and best industry practices

·       Gives feedback to workgroups and committees workingwith the development and updating of IPC standards

·       Communicates with designers and process engineers

·       Settles organizational conflicts and offers expertadvice based on IPC standards

·      Soldering ofwire connections

·      Crimping wireconnections (manual and automatic)

·      IDC – InsulationDisplacement Connection (connectors)

·      Splicing ofwires

·      Connectorassembly

·      Moldedconnectors

·      Cable assemblies(dimensions and tolerances)

·      Marking /requirements for legibility

·      Coaxial andTwinaxial joints / flexible and semi-rigid (crimping and soldering)

·      Securing cableor harness

·      Protectivecovering / electrical shielding of harness

·      Mechanicalprotection of cable harness

·      Mechanicalassembly

When the theoretical test as an IPC Expert has been passed, a certificatevalid for two years will be issued. Please note that the test for this certification istime limited!

The course is aimed at process engineers, quality engineers, designers,and experienced operators, who need to demonstrate a documented knowledge ofthe requirements in IPC-WHMA-A-620.
